Dutch title Chassis n°LCB 92 - Ordered by Zsa Zsa Gabor - Rare original LWB example - Unique model, produced by George Barris Known for her escapades and her nine spouses, Zsa Zsa Gabor was a flamboyant actress. Born in Hungary, she immigrated to the United States in 1941 and had a great career in Hollywood with the best directors (up to Orson Welles John Huston and Henri Verneuil) and the greatest actors. If she appeared at the wheel of a 300 SL, her tastes were showcasing a certain extravagance, as demonstrated by the Rolls Royce for sale here. She sent this long wheelbase Silver Cloud II to the famous customization specialist George Barris in 1978, in order to make a creation that could be exhibited at the 1978 Auto Expo in Los Angeles. The renowned craftsman, also known as the creator of the Batmobiles, embarked himself on a spectacular transformation of this rare LWB model, of which only 299 units were manufactured. This car doesn't certainly lack of style with its large headlights, its apparent spare tyre, its coupe-driver style pavilion with removable roof panel and dummy compass, its spoked wheels and the stylised "Zsa Zsa" inscription on the door and windows engraved by artist Robb Rich. Morevoer it is covered in gold paint and the chrome also has a 24-carat gold plating. The dashboard and wooden trims are in superb condition, the same can be said for the brown leather upholstery. After being hidden for twenty years, this car has returned to Europe. The extravagance of this unique model takes us back to the best years in Hollywood and the most amazing productions of the great George Barris! Photos © Diederik Lieftink
