1961 MGA Twin Cam Roadster No reserve Sans titre de circulation A immatriculer auprès de la FFVE Châssis n° 61YM31631 - Version Twin Cam - Rare et performante - Bel état de présentation - Sans réserve Sortie des chaînes d'Abington en 1955, la MG A succède aux MG TD et MG TF et apporte un vent de modernité pour la marque à l'après-guerre. Grâce à ses rondeurs, soulignées par des lignes fuyantes et surbaissées, cette nouveauté fait tourner les têtes. Mais en 1958, une version " Twin Cam " voit le jour, avec un moteur réalésé à 1,6L, une culasse en aluminium à double arbres à cames en tête, ainsi que quatre freins à disques. La MGA se mue de paisible petit cabriolet en véritable sportive destinée à la piste. Les 109 chevaux promettaient des performances accrues, avec une vitesse de pointe relevée à plus de 180 km/h permettant de faire face à la concurrence des Alfa notamment. Après seulement deux ans de production, seulement 1 788 cabriolets et 323 coupés verront le jour, ce qui en fait un véhicule rare et performant. La voiture que nous présentons a été dénichée il y a une vingtaine d'année par notre collectionneur belge en Allemagne, chez un passionné qui avait plus de cent voitures. Il fut charmé par son bel état général, dû à une restauration ancienne de grande qualité, et par sa superbe combinaison de couleur entre le bleu extérieur, l'intérieur gris moyen et la capote noire. Il utilisa la voiture lors de quelques rallyes et, récemment, son mécanicien personnel, qui est spécialisé dans les voitures anglaises, a refait le circuit d'approvisionnement d'essence. Cet élégant roadster qui constitue une véritable rareté est rare sur le marché, il est éligible dans les plus prestigieux évènements tels que le Tour Auto. Thanks to its curves, underlined by receding and lowered lines, this car really turned heads. In 1958, a "Twin Cam" version was introduced, with a rebored 1.6L engine, an aluminum cylinder head, with double overhead camshafts and four disc brakes. The MGA was transformed from a peaceful little convertible into a real sports car for the track. The 109bhp promised increased performance, with a top speed that went up to over 180 km/h, to keep up with the Alfa competition. After only two years of production, only 1,788 convertibles and 323 coupés were made, making it a rare and high-performance vehicle. The car we are offering was unearthed about twenty years ago by our Belgian collector in Germany, at an enthusiast who had more than a hundred cars. He was charmed by its good overall condition, due to a high-quality older restoration, as well as by its superb color combination with the blue exterior, the medium grey interior, and the black hood. He used the car in a few rallies and recently his personal mechanic, who specializes in English cars, rebuilt the fuel system. This elegant roadster, which is a real rarity, is eligible for the most prestigious of events such as the Tour Auto.
