Classic Car Auctions says: Attractive and rare 1961 Mercedes 220 SE Manual Coupé with contrasting tan leather interior. Offered here is a 1961 example of the desirable SE Coupé, which is believed to be one of only 50 right hand drive cars equipped with the manual transmission. This makes the motor car an excellent basis for historic rallying but also offers the maximum performance from the 2.2 litre, six cylinder engine in every day use. Finished in the very desirable colour combination of white with tan leather interior, the motor car was in the previous vendor's care for some 20 years. Described as being in very sound, usable condition but in need of some light restoration. The current vendor advises this car is in good strong running order although the new owner may wish to improve the car cosmetically. The chrome and interior wood work would benefit from a little attention although the car, in its current condition, remains a car for the enthusiast to use and enjoy. These Coupés are becoming harder to find in sound condition, especially in RHD configuration, and even rarer with the manual transmission and with the way other Mercedes from this period are increasing in value this car must be of consideration.
