Beschreibung:

1960 FERRARI 250 GT SERIES II CABRIOLET COACHWORK BY PININFARINA Registration No. Chassis No. 2057 Engine No. 2057 Maroon with black leather interior Engine: V12, single overhead camshaft per bank, 2,953cc, 220bhp at 7,000rpm; Gearbox: four speed synchromesh with overdrive; Brakes: Dunlop discs on all four wheels; Suspension: front, independent with Helicoidal springs, rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs, Houdaille shock absorbers. Left hand drive. By the end of 1959 Pinin Farina had developed several alternative designs for the 250 GT Series and with his new factory at Grugliasco now completed, debuted at the 1958 Paris Salon the new Pininfarina, a 250 GT Coupe. The opening of the new factory introduced revised insignia which was changed from Pinin Farina to Pininfarina, used on all future designs. Even before the first cabriolet was delivered in early 1959 a second series was being planned to create a greater differential between it and the California Spyder. With the new 250 GT Coupe, the second series car was to be based on that model sharing the same chassis and engine components as well as the new four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes. The prototype model was shown at the Turin Salon in November 1959 and was in production until the end of 1962. In its conception, design and finish the new Series II was a very elegant two-seater touring car, less sporty than the California Spyder but gaining in comfort and amenities more suited to touring. The overall design closely followed the coupe with its short and vertical nose and the long rear overhang was adopted without modification, providing a large boot area and generous space in the cockpit. The more vertical windscreen provided greater headroom with the top in place. Opening side vent windows and slim wrap round bumpers were also included. Final production numbers exceeded two hundred with only forty of the first cabriolet. This fine example has recently resided in France and was restored a few years ago. It has had very little use in recent years and with a good service will make a superb car. The engine was a little hesitant initially on a recent inspection but after being warmed up began to run far better. The paintwork is described as excellent, the hood good as is the leather upholstery and carpets which look like new. The whole car is highly presentable including the engine bay and clearly has been well cared for. It is not often that these rare Ferrari cabriolets appear on the market as only around 200 were originally built.
