1959 Maserati 3500 GT Coupé par Touring Titre de circulation suédois Châssis n° AM 101*742 Moteur n° AM 101*742 - Version carburateurs - Une des premières série 2 - Matching numbers, confirmé par le Maserati Classiche - Belle carrosserie Produite entre 1957 et 1964, on pourrait dire que la 3500 GT a sauvé Maserati de la ruine financière. Le prototype, un coupé par Touring fut présenté au salon de Genève 1957 et les commandes commencèrent à s'accumuler à partir du Salon de Turin la même année. L'exemplaire que nous proposons, une des premières série 2, a quitté l'usine le 14 janvier 1960. Délivré à Turin dans un gris métallique " Grigio Albany " et intérieur sable, il fut ensuite importé en Suède par l'importateur suédois Rolf Haider. Ce dernier immatricula la voiture au nom de sa société le 1er avril 1970. Le second propriétaire, un certain M. P. dans la ville de Lund qui la céda en septembre 1973 à un M. J. de Malmö. Ce dernier la revendit ensuite à son dernier propriétaire suédois. Lorsque celui-ci en fit l'acquisition, une restauration complète se révéla nécessaire. Ce collectionneur ayant de nombreuses voitures à restaurer dans sa collection, il lui fallut près de 20 ans avant de pouvoir faire reprendre la route à cette Maserati 3500 GT. Au cours des dix dernières années, la voiture a été restaurée en conservant de nombreuses pièces qui pouvaient être réutilisées, et elle conserve donc une certaine patine. Le moteur a été entièrement restauré par un spécialiste suédois vers 2007 et elle a récemment été repeinte dans son gris argenté d'origine et la voiture fonctionne bien. La voiture conserve également son bel intérieur d'origine. Cette belle Maserati avec sa carrosserie attrayante, et avec les carburateurs Weber, présente une formidable occasion d'acquérir une des grandes Maserati, à un prix qui reste abordable. The prototype, a coupé by Touring, was presented in Geneva in March 1957 and orders started to flow in after the Turin motor show the same year. The example on offer is a very early series 2 car, a so called "4-window car" which left the factory on 14 January 1960. Delivered to Turin in "Grigio Albany" a metallic grey paint along with a sand interior, it was imported to Sweden by Swedish car importer Rolf Haider who registered the car in his company's name in Stockholm on 1 April 1970. The second owner was a Mr P. in the town of Lund. He retained it until September 1973 when Mr J. in Malmö bought it. The latter subsequently sold it to its latest Swedish owner. When he purchased this Maserati 3500 GT, it needed to be fully restored. Being a collector with a lot of cars to restore, it him took more or less 20 years to get this done. During the last 10 years the car has been through a conservative restoration retaining many parts which could be re-used and the car still shows some patina. The engine was fully restored by a Swedish specialist around 2007 and the car has recently been re-painted in its original silvergrey and the car runs well. The car retains its original beautiful interior as well. This very usable, beautiful top-level Maserati with the more attractive early 4-window body and with the Weber carburrettors, presents a truly great opportunity to acquire one of the great Maseratis, at a price which is still affordable.
