Beschreibung:

Manufactured by the Italian industrial giant Innocenti, the Lambretta scooter gained instant acceptance in the immediate post-war years, its cleanliness and convenience in particular appealing to those who regarded the true motorcycle with suspicion. As Peter McManus recalls, 'We sold lots of them in their day and considered them, with good reason, to be head and shoulders above all other scooters.' Following the unreliable TV 175 Series 1, Lambretta went back to the drawing board to create one of its all-time greats: The Li. Built as a 125 or 150, the classic Li used the bore/stroke dimensions of the preceding 'D' Series but housed its entirely new engine in modern bodywork similar to that of the TV. The Li twins subsequently underwent a series of styling alterations, the Series 2 model offered here being readily distinguishable by its handlebar-mounted headlight. This Lambretta LI Series 2 was treated to a 'last nut and bolt' rebuild in 2010, including a total repaint, and has seen very little use since. Originally a '125', it has been converted to 175cc capacity and fitted with a Wildcat piston and a '150' gearbox, the latter better able to cope with pulling the (very rare) Watsonian Bambini sidecar. Noteworthy features include three new whitewall tyres and a genuine 1960s rack and wheel carrier. Last used in July 2018, this eye-catching scooter combination is offered with a dating certificate, sundry bills, various old MoTs and tax discs, and a V5C Registration Certificate.
