Beschreibung:

1959 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ CONVERTIBLE Chassis No. 59EO69175 Black with red leather interior. Engine: V8, overhead valve, 390ci, 325bhp at 4800rpm; Gearbox: automatic; Suspension: coil springs all around, independent front. Right hand drive. In 1959 Detroit said good-bye to General Motors top designer, Harley Earl, with the launching of the swan song of the decadent 50's chrome and tail fin style. GM's art and color studio created one the greatest icons of the 1950's automotive era, the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. The 130 inch wheelbase was propelled by a 345 horsepower engine with Tri-power carburetors. The car's power did not stop with its drivetrain. Standard power accessories were abundant, including: windows, locks, steering, brakes, antenna, a self closing power trunk and convertible top. The Biarritz is an original, well cared for car. The odometer reads just over 54,000, which is believed to be genuine. Almost 35 years after its car's inception this Eldorado was taken completely apart for a total nut and bolt restoration. Each individual part (the front grill alone was made up of some 80 different pieces) was disassembled and either restored or replaced with unused old stock parts. The total restoration was undertaken with the precise intention of bringing this car back to a "better than new" condition while keeping its authenticity and originality. The engine was completely rebuilt with all new pistons and rings. The engine bay is beautiful and finished to a very high standard. The automatic transmission was overhauled along with the desirable and optional cruise control. There were only two other options available at that time and this particular car has both of them: the factory installed air conditioning and the very sporty bucket seats which were only offered in 99 cars that year. In 1995 this Biarritz was entered in two Concours events, capturing a 1st in each, one from the highly competitive class within the Antique Automobile Club of America. The 1959 Cadillac Biarritz Convertible is arguably the ultimate and most lavish of all the cars that Detroit produced in this famous era.
