Beschreibung:

1958 BENTLEY S1 FOUR DOOR SALOON Registration No. 111 FPL Chassis No. B31 FD Engine No. BF 340 Engine: six-cylinder in-line, cast iron monobloc, aluminium alloy cylinder head, 4887cc, bore and stroke 95.25mm x 114.3mm, compression ratio 6.6:1, twin SU HD6 carburettors, overhead inlet valves through pushrods and rockers, side exhaust valves, approximately 178bhp at 4500rpm, power steering. Transmission: single dry plate clutch with four speed automatic gearbox with kickdown change and steering column control, divided propeller shaft, hypoid bevel rear axle. Suspension: front, independent with unequal length wishbones and coil springs, rear by half-elliptic springs, rubber bushed shackles, shock absorbers, hydraulic piston type at front with electrical ride control piston type at rear, anti-roll bars at front and Z bar at rear. Brakes: four wheel servo assisted hydraulic drums, dual master cylinders, handbrake on rear wheels only. Right hand drive. The final version of the classic six-cylinder Bentley was the S1 current between 1955 and 1959. The S1 and its Silver Cloud stablemate had a greatly strengthened chassis which provided fifty per cent more torsional ridgity than the old Silver Dawn and Mk VI. The suspension and triple line breaking were also improved and many agree that this was the most stylish of all the standard Bentleys. The S1 was also a considerably more roomy car than its predecessor. The engine represented the final development of the B60 type, appearing in 4.9-litre form as pioneered in the Bentley R-Type Continental. Automatic transmission was standardised although manual was availble on special order. This dark blue S1 has an excellent history and is the type of car we all hope to discover. It is a genuine one family owner, chauffer driven car with only 28,219 miles to date. It has the interesting registration number 111 FPL and its condition is as one would expect for such an original car. The interior is really excellent with original red leather upholstery, very nice woodwork and an original radio. The bodywork is first class and although the car has seen little use in the last year with a good polish it should be most presentable. The chassis has a little surface rust in evidence, the engine bay is very good and mechanically the engine ran perfectly with the correct oil pressure. In recent years a major overhaul of the brakes was carried out costing (500. The car has been regularly serviced throughout its life by Rolls-Royce agents and some of the invoices are with the vehicle. This is one of those rare opportunities to purchase a gem of a motor car.
