Beschreibung:

After a slow start, with Powerglide transmissions, feeble 150-horsepower 6-cylinder engines, flapping side screens and bumpers bolted directly to the fiberglass body, the Chevrolet Corvette underwent an epiphany in 1956. Finally it got a decent V8 engine in the shape of the 265 cubic-inch 225-horsepower V8, 12-volt electrics, wind-up windows, and an optional hardtop. As a result, 3,467 Corvettes were sold in 1956, nearly as many as in the previous three years. As 1957 dawned, the burst of energy that had rippled though every level of Chevrolet manufacturing caught the Corvette by storm and sales almost doubled to 6,339 for the year. The fuel-injected option offered up to 283 horsepower from the new 283 cubic-inch engine and 1,040 FI ‘Vettes were sold, though only 43 with the highest horsepower setup. In that configuration a fuel-injected Corvette could do 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, 0-100 mph in 16.7 seconds and had a top speed of 132 mph. A 4-speed transmission was available from April 1957 and 664 buyers elected to buy that. This car was bought by the Lewis Collection from Memory Lane Motors in 2005. It’s one of 909 Corvettes painted in Onyx Black with Silver coves in 1957 and one of 1,040 to have fuel injection. Previous owners include Vern Balcowitch in Battleground, Washington in the 1997, and Richard Harris of Portland from 2002. The car is described as having matching numbers and being fully documented. The paint is excellent with a little crazing, the panel fit is good, while the paint finish inside the doors and under the hood is not typical. The engine appears to have the correct shields and the car has no power brakes or power steering. The chrome and trim are excellent, but there is some delamination of the windshield. The top is black vinyl and the interior has well-fitted, red vinyl reproduction bucket seat covers with red carpet. There is a Wonderbar radio. The car rides on belted whitewall tires and has spinner hubcaps. The mileage is recorded as 76,524, which seems likely to be correct. Fuel-injected Corvettes of this vintage very seldom come to market, particularly in what is considered to be one of the most attractive color combinations and with desirable fuel injection. Without reserve
