Odometer reading: 41,880 MOT: 11/03/2022 *Despatched new to the USA *Professionally restored in the UK between 2018 and 2021 *Converted from left- to right-hand drive To view a video of this lot please click here Newly introduced for 1955, the Jaguar XK140 was broadly similar to, though more refined than, its sensational XK120 predecessor, major engineering changes being confined to repositioning the 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine 3" further forward and the adoption of rack-and-pinion steering. Performance was well up to the standards set by the XK120, contemporary road-tests regularly recording top speeds in excess of 120mph. Its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate reveals that this XK140 roadster was manufactured in left-hand drive configuration and despatched in January 1955 to Jaguar's East Coast USA distributor Max Hoffman in New York. The XK was equipped with the desirable overdrive gearbox and left the Brown's Lane factory finished in Battleship Grey with red interior trim and Gunmetal soft-top. The vendor purchased the car from a friend of his while it was undergoing restoration by Nostalgia Cars UK of Taunton, Devon. Classic Connection of Hampshire duly completed the restoration, which included conversion to right-hand drive and engine rebuild, and all bills totalling some £175,000 are available together with a photographic record of the works carried out. The rebuild commenced in 2018 and was only completed earlier this year. Running and driving well, this professionally restored Jaguar XK140 roadster comes complete with weather equipment and a comprehensive history file containing, among other paperwork, an old-style logbook; a V5C document; a recently expired MoT (car is exempt); and the aforementioned restoration records.
