1955 JAGUAR XK140 MC ROADSTER Chassis No. S810609 DN Engine No. G4837-8S Pacific blue with navy blue interior and top Engine: six-cylinder in line, 3,442cc; Gearbox: four-speed with overdrive, synchromesh except on first; Brakes: four-wheel hydraulic drum; Suspension: independent front with double wishbones, rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs. Left hand drive. This early XK140 with C-Type Head was originally purchased in the San Francisco area and has always remained in the West. All evidence supports the odometer reading of 77,182 miles to be genuine. A complete professional nut and bolt frame-off restoration was undertaken in 1993 by Mike Wilson Restorations Inc. of Visalia, California with every item either overhauled, restored or replaced with authentic new parts. The total restoration was done with painstaking attention to detail to insure absolute authenticity/originality. The engine overhaul included new pistons, rings, main and rod bearings. The crankshaft was reground, new exhaust valves fitted, head valves ground, head overhauled, resurfaced and bead blasted. New timing chains were installed, the cam covers polished, and the engine balanced. The gear box and transmission have been completely overhauled including the rare optional Laycock de Normanville overdrive. The suspension was completely overhauled with new shocks, ball joints, wheel bearings, rubber bushings and boots. New leather gaitors were fitted to the rear leaf springs. A new wiring harness was installed. The fuel tank was replaced with a new one as was the radiator core. The brake system was completely overhauled. In fact, every moving part has been either replaced with NOS (New Old Stock), re-built or restored including the starter, the generator, the water pump, carburettors, etc., in addition to the work previously described. A new stainless steel exhaust system imported from the U.K., incorporating original British style mufflers not available in the U.S.A., has been installed. New correct British Avon MK.IV 600-16 "V" (rated to 150 mph) nylon cross ply tires with G-16 tubes are mounted on new authentic 54 spoke wire wheels with special order premium Concours chrome. All floor boards were replaced with 9mm Norwegian birch per original. All original cadmium plated items were re-plated with cadmium. All original chrome has been triple plated to Concours show quality. Thirty coats of R-M acrylic lacquer were applied and hand rubbed. The top frame bow members, seat frames, bonnet prop and boot support are painted the same color as they had been originally. A matching cloth tonneau cover and completely restored side curtains in their original style bag (extremely rare) are included. Racing style seatbelts are fitted. All tools, original Owner's Manual, Service Manual, and Spare Parts Catalogue are included together with a custom made car cover. An album of over one hundred photographs documenting the incredible restoration process plus detailed receipts for all the work accomplished will also be provided. This XK140 Jaguar was awarded First Prize at its first showing at the Santa Barbara Concours d'Elegance. Subsequently it won first prize at the JCNA (Jaguar club of North America) Concours d'Elegance in Sacramento and Santa Maria. It has been acclaimed a National Concours Class Championship Winner for all of North America by JCNA with a total of 99.7 points. It is the finest we have ever had the pleasure of offering.
