Les succès en compétition vont appuyer cette image et, des TA aux TC, le concept ne fait que s'affiner. La seconde Guerre Mondiale ne l'éteint pas, au contraire : les GI américains découvrent en Europe cette séduisante auto et l'adoptent immédiatement. La TD présentée en 1949 reprend le robuste moteur 1 250 cm3 de sa devancière et bénéficie de roues avant indépendantes et d'une direction à crémaillère. La TF, qui suit en 1954, rencontre le même succès et les chroniqueurs de Road & Track, aux États-Unis, la qualifie de "sportive la plus intéressante d'Amérique". Avant la MGA, elle est la plus aboutie de cette belle lignée des fameuses Midget. C'est aux États-Unis qu'André Lecoq a trouvé cette voiture en 2001. Conquis par sa qualité de restauration, il en appréciait la ligne sportive, le grand volant bois et les roues à rayons, typique des roadsters britanniques de cette époque. A l'intérieur, la forme des instruments de tableau de bord répond à la l'écusson MG octogonal. De belle présentation, cette MG TF présente l'avantage d'une technique d'après-guerre et de performances permettant de rouler en toute sécurité parmi les voitures modernes, tout en offrant le charme d'une forme désuète évoquant plutôt les années 1930 avec ses ailes séparées, ses marchepieds, son long capot effilé et ses petites portes "suicide". Régulièrement entretenue, elle affiche 5.569 miles au compteur et se trouve toujours en bon état de présentation et de fonctionnement. Le pare-brise est rabattable et laisse place à deux saute-vent du plus bel effet. Success in competition backed this up and the concept was gradually refined, from the TA through to the TC. Rather than stopping progress, the second World War had the opposite effect: American soldiers discovered this attractive little car in Europe and took to it immediately. The TD appearing in 1949 used the robust engine of its predecessor and benefitted from independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering. The TF, which followed in 1954, enjoyed the same success and columnists from the US magazine Road & Track dubbed it " the most interesting sports car in America ". Before the arrival of the MGA, it was the most highly developed of this wonderful line of the celebrated Midget. André Lecoq found this car in the US in 2001. He loved the sporty styling, large wooden steering wheel and wire wheels typical of British roadsters of this period, and was won over by the quality of the restoration. Inside, the instruments on the dashboard are shaped to echo the octagonal form of the MG badge. Presented in superb condition, this MG TF has the advantages of post-war engineering, with a performance that allows it to drive safely in modern traffic, combined with the charm of a more old-fashioned styling reminiscent of the 1930s, with separate wings, running boards, long slender bonnet and small 'suicide' doors. The car has been regularly maintained, displays 5,569 miles on the odometer and is still presented in good condition and working order.
