Beschreibung:

The Rolls-Royce 25/30 built between 1936 and 1938 is an updated version of the 20/25 with larger engine to provide more power for the over-large bodies had been fitted to the earlier model leading to complaints about its performance. The in-line six cylinder, overhead valve, engine is similar to that used in the 20/25 but increased in capacity to 4,257cc. A single proprietary Stromberg downdraught carburettor replaced the Rolls-Royce one and magneto ignition was no longer fitted but a spare ignition coil was provided. The riveted chassis has rigid front and rear axles suspended by half elliptic springs with hydraulic dampers. Braking is on all four wheels assisted by a mechanical servo with separate rear brakes are fitted for the handbrake. The traditional Rolls-Royce radiator with vertical louvers, the angle of which is controlled thermostatically to control engine cooling. Only the chassis and mechanical parts were made by Rolls-Royce. The body was then made and fitted by a coachbuilder selected by the owner. On offer is this pretty Rolls-Royce 25/30 six-light limousine by the renowned coachbuilders Thrupp & Maberly. It has been properly looked after and maintained throughout its life covering less than 1,000 miles a year for the last forty years. The vendor purchased this car about eight years ago shortly after the engine had been rebuilt and the con rods replaced with the stronger, later Bentley Mk. VI type which used shell bearings in place of the white metal type. He then overhauled the gearbox and rear axle making the car run and drive excellently. Painted in mid-blue with black wings, the interior is finished in black leather to the front compartment with fawn 'West of England' cloth to the rear and comes supplied with a V5C registration document, a new MoT test certificate, a green 'buff' log book, a file of invoices and information regarding the overhauls and old MoT test certificates going back to 1973 confirming the car usage over the last forty years. A very useable example of one of these rare, pre-war Rolls-Royce motorcars.
