Carte grise française - Rare faux-cabriolet version - Full restoration - Easy to use and maintain In retrospect, the Citroen Traction could have been a monumental flop as it simultaneously adopted technical solutions that were little used at the time. Instead, it became a worldwide success, proving the soundness of the choices made and approved by Andre Citroen, such as front-wheel drive, monocoque bodywork, floating-power engine, independent four-wheel suspension with torsion bars, hydraulically operated brakes, engine with rocker arm, all beneath a bodyline that was much lower and streamlined than the "square boxes" that were criss-crossing the roads in the 1930s. In 1934, the first Traction, which had not yet been given that name, is the model 7, a figure that refers to its tax-rated power. Although fitted with a larger engine (9CV), the 7B and 7C models that appeared just afterwards kept this appellation. At the 1934 Motor Show, the range was added to by the 11CV, which was to represent the major part of the distribution in its normal or light version. Today, the Traction is much prized by collectors for its modern design, its particularly striking and familiar lines, its ease of use and maintenance and the ready availability of spare parts. The Traction offered here is rare on two counts: first, it is an early 7C model and, second, it is presented in the form of a faux-cabriolet whose bodywork is as elegant as it is rare. It was completely restored in 1987 by a specialist workshop. At that time, the interior was refurbished in red leather, the engine was replaced by a mechanical 11B engine sourced from a direct injection, the three-speed gearbox was restored, the brakes were redone and were fitted with an assistance device, and the clutch was fitted with a press-button control system on the gear lever. Fitted with open hubcaps, it is delivered, according to the owner, with original engine element
