1925 NEW YORK YANKEES TEAM SIGNED BASEBALL

Beschreibung:

1925 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball Twenty-three members of the 1925 Yankees have signed this OAL (Johnson) ball including Hall of Famers Babe Ruth (6-7/10), Lou Gehrig (3/10), Waite Hoyt, Earle and Combs. Other signatures include; Shanks, Ferguson, Bongough, Paschal, Luebbe, Marquis, Meusel, Pipp, Merkle, Jones. Shocker, Shawkey, Schang, H. Johnson, Veach, E. Johnson O'Leary, Dugan and Wanninger. Ball is moderately soiled, with signatures rating in the 3-7/10 range, averaging 5/10. The sweet spot Ruth signature is among the best and displays beautifully, unimpeded by any other encroaching autographs. Tough early Yankees team ball, as Ruth was absent for much of the season apparently for an intestinal abscess (An intestinal abscess was the stated diagnosis, but rumors persist that he was actually suffering from some more embarrassing malady that was hushed up). Also, young Lou Gehrig shuttled between Hartford and the Yankees through 1924 before joining the club permanently for the 1925 season. According to legend, Gehrig owed his position to Wally Pipp's headache; when Pipp begged off with a headache, Gehrig substituted for him and played so well the Pipp never made it back into the lineup. LOA from PSA/DNA.
