Beschreibung:

1854 Lithograph Issue Singapore Covers 1859 (8 Nov.) part entire via Gibraltar to Rivadeo, north-west Spain, bearing 2a. green in combination with 1855 8a. carmine and 1856-64 1a. brown and 4a. black, all cancelled "B/172", showing two Gibraltar c.d.s. (14.12) in blue and superb "4" and "R" handstamps over manuscript "1/10" rate mark in red crayon, the reverse with Singapore, Cadiz (14.12), Lugo (21.12) and Rivadeo (24.12) datestamps; the 4a. and 8a. with one and two straight-edges respectively, a couple of age marks on the 2a., and the entire with a couple of light creases. A most attractive and unique combination franking, posted at the correct rate of 15a., to a most unusual destination. B.P.A. Certificate (2010). Photo Note: This most unusual combination franking was posted during the 1859-60 Bisect Period when 2a. values were in short supply or unavailable. This almost certainly accounts for the remarkable use of the 1854 2a. in combination with later De La Rue stamps. provenance: Spink auction, September 2010
