Folio, 19th century half leather and marbled boards with large red morocco title panel on front, incorporating weekly Returns of the 8th Massachusetts at West Point, Orangetown, Peekskill, Phillipsburgh, Dobbs Ferry and related camps from September 3, 1779 to October 26, 1781 inclusive as well as many other returns related to the regiment including four returns of the non-commissioned and private men of the regiment from 1780-1782; "Return of the Field, Staff, and Commissioned Officers in the 8th Massachusetts Regiment, January 1, 1780 to December 31, 1780"; "Register of the Commissioned Officers of Colo. Michael Jackson's Regiment Dead & Discharged Since May 3"; "Return of the Men, Arms, Accoutrements, Clothing and Camp Equipage in the Eight Massachusetts Regiment"; a listing of Regulation books delivered to the officers at Peekskill, September 7, 1781; "Return of the Drums & Fifes Wanting to the 8th Mass. Francis Tufts (1756-1823) began his service in Jackson's 8th Massachusetts Regiment as an ensign in 1777 and served until the regiment's disbandment in June 1783.
